Commission: ‘The Gift’, 2020, Awarded by the Clare Arts Office and Creative Ireland.

The series of ceramic plates, based on the four seasons, were created to be gifted to those who have shone a light in Clare during COVID 19. The isolating effect on family and community was balanced by the kindness and care shown by friends, neighbours, and the healthcare services.

The seasonal rhythms continue as normal and are a ray of hope for many. The use of plants and foliage throughout is symbolic of change, energy, and hope. The series of four designs are linked by season and the renewed optimism they bring.

Commission: Tree of Life, Dermatology Department, Lieben Building, University Hospital Limerick.

Leben is German for life and the Leben building has become home to a flight of swallows, who return each year to nest in the eves. These welcome birds are a central theme in the work, displaying joy and resilience. Swallows are said to be symbolic of the healing medicine of happiness.

The series of four wall installations were created to bring inspiration and joy, helping to reduce the stress and anxiety felt by patients attending the clinic.
